Rules
“Every game has rules. Obey the rules, win the game.”
These rules are put in place to ensure Holocene is a place where everyone can enjoy themselves. Please ensure you read these rules and agree to follow them before joining. Upon creating an account, you confirm you have understood and will comply with these rules.
I’m sure this is obvious but show respect to all members and visitors to the site. We understand that not everyone will get along with each other, and that everyone has opinions. Remember to be kind and respectful to each other.
Out of character insults and public arguments will not be tolerated. If such instances occurred, please inform staff and we will act to resolve the issues.
Attacking others, origin, race, gender, sexuality and beliefs will not be tolerated.
When registering, please use your prospective character’s first name only - e.g Elena for Elena Gilbert.
Make sure you use a 1:1 aspect ratio for your avatar for example 150x150 and use a 0.57:1 ratio for your hover image for example 230x400.
Try to ensure roleplay posts (excluding mobile phone communications and such) have a word count of at least 250 words.
As Holocene is TVD/SPN AU site, There are many canon characters to choose from. OC's are definitely a welcome addition. It is crucial you do not steal characters from this site, or others. Profiles are checked for plagiarism. You are welcome to bring your creations to this site, but we encourage you to create new characters.
There is no character limit, but please ensure you are comfortable and capable of keeping your characters active.
The age of species such as vampires, with a lifespan longer than humans are limited. As a vampire ages, their chances for survival decrease as explained in the species guide, therefore, an appropriate ratio of 800-year-old vampires to 50-year-old vampires is kept. There is no limit on vampires aged up to 300 years old.
Real life should always be prioritised over roleplay; therefore, our activity rules are relaxed.
When engaged in a thread, please ensure you respond in a timely manner. If you are struggling with replies, please reach out to the staff and to the writer you are threading with.
If you will be away for an extended period, please inform the staff. If your account is removed due to inactivity, all posts and graphics will be archived before the account is deleted.
Mature language is permitted.
Sexual content is limited. If a roleplay will conclude with sexual intercourse, do not act this out on the site, including private messages.
Graphic violence is permitted.
God-modding is very frustrating and is not permitted. If you experience god-modding, please inform the staff. Otherwise, seek your writing partner's permission.
